B is for "Boston Cream Pie" #SpankA2Z

Welcome to day 2 of the Spanking A-Z Challenge!

June 2nd - B is for "Boston Cream Pie"

When I was a kid, my parents used to take us to this little family restaurant in town that served the best Boston Cream Pie. I can't tell you what else they served, because I only remember the pie. Now, you'd think that I would have learned to make my own Boston Cream Pie since it's one of my favorite desserts, but no, every time I try to make it, it's a complete disaster. Luckily there's a grocery store nearby that has a pretty decent Boston Cream Pie, so life can go on and I don't have to torture myself (and my poor family) with barely edible desserts.

Yesterday my husband decided it was pool opening day. After lots of groaning and muttering that maybe we should just hire someone to open our pool instead of putting on a show for the neighbors while we argue in the backyard, I put on some old clothes and followed him outside. All was going well and we're getting along . . . until part of the pool cover gets stuck inside the pool and we have to tug really hard to pull it out. When the last part of the pool cover finally comes flying out, a years' worth of pool cover sludge (leaves, rainwater, and who knows what else) gets dumped all over me. I shrieked and glared at my husband (who was trying his best not to laugh), before running into the garage to strip my clothes off and run to the shower.

After an hour long shower, I finally ventured downstairs and my husband and I made up. I suppose it was a little funny, and I can't honestly say I wouldn't have laughed had the sludge gotten dumped all over him. But it's hard to have a sense of humor when you're covered in smelly, yucky pool cover sludge.

Later on, my husband ran to the store to pick up some things for dinner, and guess what else he brought home? That's right. A huge Boston Cream Pie. He called it a "Pie of Forgiveness", LOL.

So there you have it. B is for Boston Cream Pie.

  1. I love it! Not the pool sludge part, but the pie as a way to make up. We should talk about pool covering and un covering - we've managed to simplify it greatly.

  2. That would be gross. But you had pie.

I'd always heard about Boston cream pie, and bought one at a local grocery store in Missouri. I was disappointed--I found it overly sweet. Then a few months ago, I went to Massachusetts on vacation and in a restaurant in Boston, I ordered a slice of Boston cream pie. It was awesome!

  3. Forgiveness Pie---what an excellent idea.

Why do they call it pie when it's really more of a cake?

  7. We had a little place called The Pie Stand. I often went there with my Grandpa as a little girl. It was a real treat even though my Grandma made and sold the best pies around he would still sneak up there lol. Sorry about the sludge, yuk!
